Megaloldom
Megaloldom is a Minecraft server. With space for up to 50 players at one time, this server acts as a creative hub for many Minecraftians. At it's heart Megaloldom is a Survival server, although we like to mess around with elements of role-play, and plugins to enhance creativity. The server was launched in 2010 and has been thriving ever since. Initially the sole inhabitants of Megaloldom were a group of about half a dozen friends, but upon making the server public we are now a thriving community of over 200 players.

[Gameplay Elements]
Survival with mcMMO lets players "level-up" as they play. This leveling system ensures players are rewarded for the time they put in to the server with special abilities. This also enables players to create parties using the /party command, so they can chat in secret with their friends. Globally, no restrictions are placed on what/where someone can build, although some towns may follow a particular theme (some examples include northtown, harbour and anarchy).
[Economy]
We use iConomy 6. Players can earn money by getting a job, selling blocks to other players or by donating. Players can spend their in-game money on blocks that other players are selling. In addition to this, players are given the opportunity to protect land.
[Admins / Mods]
There are very few admins and many moderators. All of which have earned their trust through playing on the server and being helpful to new players. This means that we can catch greifers at the earliest opportunity to ensure our player's builds aren't ruined.
[Demographic]
Some of our players are younger and others are older, with an age range of about 10-30, we aim to ensure a great environment for players of all types. A certain level of mental maturity is required of course. We'd encourage players to avoid building dirt houses. We provide basic tools upon joining to ensure that players can get right in to gathering materials and building.
[Server Specs]
We run a Bukkit server with a multitude of plugins. We have 2GB of RAM as of writing which results in mostly lag-free gameplay unless some kind of server intensive activity is going on.
[Community]
We mostly use our Facebook group although some announcements may appear on the Facebook page first. We also have a forum and a Twitter. We're always posting screenshot of our best builds and discussing what to work on next, so if you're stuck with nothing to do, it's a good idea to get online and talk to us.
